ugh

So it's been an interesting week at my house and I'm feeling tired and ready for the weekend again already. Things at work have settled down a little bit, but school is picking up and some days I find it hard to balance everything because usually when I get home from work, homework is the last thing I feel like doing.

Anyway, Gypsy got spayed on Friday, and while things went well, her recovery has been interesting. Oliver was easy, but Gypsy has stitches so that has created a whole new challenge. I went to Salt Lake on Saturday to celebrate my mom and dad's birthdays with the family, so I had to leave her basically alone. John spent a lot of time with her though, which was really great of him, but we had to keep her shut in the bathroom for the most part so Oliver wouldn't get too playful or rough with her and so he wouldn't try to lick her stitches. I guess she started biting at her stitches and licking the area, so John decided to get her one of the "E" collar things (you know, like a lamp shade). I guess that didn't really work out and he wasn't able to get it on her. I decided it looked like she was fine, so I haven't worried too much about it these last couple of days.

Well, today I noticed that the area of the incision is getting red and I think she has been licking and picking at it more. I've been trying to keep ointment on it, but whenever I put it on, she actually licks the area more. So I decided I would give the collar thing a try and I was able to get it on her. What an adventure. After I first got it on her, she quickly figured out how to get it off by trying to go under the couch and when the collar got stuck, she was able to pry it off. Getting her out from under the bed was a lot of work, but I finally got the collar on her again. She is not happy about it. My goal was to keep her out of my room so she can't try to go under the couch or bed again, but Oliver doesn't like this at all. He sits by the door and meows and cries and then starts scratching the carpet at the door. Not to mention, with the door closed, it gets very very hot in my room because I have a radiator. I don't know how long the collar will last, especially because I don't think she can eat or drink water while she's wearing it. I am going to call the vet tomorrow and see what he recommends.

Gypsy-I think she's mad at me

Oliver-ready to run outside as soon as I open the door...that's his new game

In other news, it snowed a lot today. Not only did it snow, but it was really windy. I took a picture of my front door because I thought it was cool how the snow was blown up all over the door. I'm also posting a picture of my backyard so you can get an idea of what kind of snow we have. And this is after a lot of snow melted over the last couple of days when it warmed up.

My front door

My backyard. I wish I could go skiing tomorrow.

Ok, I'm done whining for the night. Hopefully everything works out with my kitties and life can get back to normal again.

Dude, your cat looks pissed. I don't know if cats heal like dogs at all but Mikka started to kind of lick her wound and it got a little red but the vet said that it wasn't that big of a deal because it was already healing well. I think that because it's been almost a week it shouldn't be a huge deal if she cleans it a little.

Didn't they close the school for night classes last night? That was some crazy storm.
