Sunday morning we drove down and caught the ferry in Woods Hole. The ferry ride itself was pretty fun and it was a really nice day. We got to Martha's Vineyard early afternoon and rented some bikes and set out.
We stopped and saw a lighthouse:
Then we stopped at the ocean and relaxed for a while and collected some sea shells.
We continued on to Edgartown and had some ice cream and then headed back. We knew if we hurried, we could get our bikes back on time and still catch the last ferry from Oak Bluffs. We just made it! I'm glad we did, because it meant we were heading back to Woods Hole right at sunset, which was really pretty.
We finished our evening with a really nice dinner at a place called Ella's. At this point, my muscles were super sore and I wasn't feeling very well. I went to bed with really achey legs, but just figured it was from all the biking.
So then I woke up around 1:30am and I was in the most pain I can ever remember being in. I took some Tylenol and tried to go back to sleep. It seemed I could not get my muscles to relax and I couldn't get comfortable and definitely couldn't sleep. Finally at 4:30am I woke John up and told him I thought I needed to go to the hospital. So we headed down to Falmouth to the ER. A few hours, some IV fluids and a dose of morphine later, my tests all came back fine and the official diagnosis was severe dehydration. Thinking back on the day, I did not get nearly enough water for all the activity we had done. Lesson learned, as that is not something I want to go through again.
It was the best end to the weekend, but the rest of the weekend was really great!
