So I've been reading back through my blog because I was looking for a couple of lists I made and I have gotten so distracted that I don't have time to write what I was going to write about. But I really want to blog more. Really. It has been so fun for me to go back 2+ years since I started blogging and see how my life has progressed. It's really fun and entertaining to read about the way my relationship has progressed with John, because when this blog was started, I never thought we would be getting married! I love that I wrote about all my adventures in Lake Powell. I love that I have written about milestones in our family. I guess because I think I see everyone a lot, I don't think I need to blog as much...but the blog is as much for me and journaling as it is for all of you. I was going to link you to some of my favorite posts, but I will let you read through my archives if you are really interested.
On to the reason for this post.
John and I set a date! Woo hoo! It was kind of sad because we got engaged and then he had to go to Amsterdam for work for 3 weeks. I was excited to start making some decisions (let's be honest, I've been "planning" for a few months already) but then John wasn't here to make them with me. So he got a day of recovery from his trip and then today we sat down and hashed out a bunch of details.
August 21, 2010. That's the date. It wasn't our first choice, but after considering a few things, it is going to work the best and we hope it will work out for our family and friends to be there to celebrate with us. We are trying our best to keep it a small affair, but we both have big families+extended families we are close to as well as a lot of friends we want to share our big day with...so the list is getting a bit long. Of course I want to invite all of my loyal blogging friends, so you all need to post a comment with your address or if you're more comfortable emailing that kind of info, please do: bkyoungs (at) gmail (dot) com. And if you live out of state, we will be sending announcements as well, so you should send me your address at least for that so you can see a lovely photo of us from our big day. We will be getting married on the rooftop of the Wight House in Bountiful and will have a dinner reception in Farmington that night. Consider this your save the date-in case I don't get around to sending out official ones!
I was also reading back from my last bday when I made my list of 10 things I wanted to do before I turn 30. I have done a few (got engaged, traveled to D.C), completely failed at a couple (like trying new recipes and blogging about them) and still have time to work on the rest. I really am trying.
I am going to try not to turn this blog into a wedding planning blog, but naturally that will probably be my focus over the next few months.
The other news is that John and I are planning to move to Massachusetts after we get married. Nothing is official yet, but that is the plan. One of his bosses lives out there and would love for John to be closer so they can work together in real life (everyone in his company works at home, all over the country). We think it will be a great adventure! We will keep you all posted of course on our plans.
Eek! John's alarm is going off. He has stayed on Amsterdam time for work, so he sleeps all afternoon and wakes up and then I go to bed while he works and then we spend a few hours together in the late morning/early afternoon. It's been great to have some days off so we can actually see each other!

I am so excited for you, have fun with all the planning!
You can't go off and move to Massachusetts! I will definitely save the date though.
Congrats! August 21 and Massachusetts all sound very cool. I hope you have joy in the journey.
I'm a loyal blogging friend + out of state-er, so I'd definitely love an announcement if you've got enough to share :D
And moving to Massachusetts sounds like an awesome adventure. I know you read that post of mine about moving to Georgia but I'll say it again... moving away from everyone we knew was the very best thing to happen to my marriage.
I'm exciting to keep reading about all your wedding planning!
